Overkill named Exodus and Gama Bomb as the replacements for previously announced support band Metal Church for their upcoming Euopean tour, and have branded the thrash metal extravaganza Killfest.

I was gutted when Metal Church had to pull out of the tour last month due to health problems. What looked to be one of the best thrash metal double bills in a long time had turned into an ordinary Overkill tour. While there is nothing at all wrong with an Overkill tour, it seemed a bit of a letdown after the originally announced lineup.

So what does Overkill do? They go out and get not one, but two great thrash metal bands to compensate.

Bay area thrashers Exodus are one of the founding fathers of thrash metal. They recently re-recorded their 1985 debut, Bonded By Blood, as reported in this previous post.

Gama Bomb are an Irish thrash metal band that released their Earache records debut Citizen Brain earlier this year. Their debut album, Survival of the Fastest, was releaed on the small Witches Brew label in 2006.

Throw Torture Squad into the mix and Killfest adds up to one excellent night of thrash metal.
